Barry Matfield - President

Barry is the president and co-founder of SageKey. "I quip that I'm the chief bottlewasher. My primary job is setting the tone, being the custodian of the culture and influencing conditions to tend naturally towards success. I strongly believe in using influence and common goals rather than brute force to create results. Exceptional things happen when people resonate together well."

Barry has an Honors Degree in Electronic Engineering from Bath University, England where he specialized in Digital Computing and Signal Processing. After a year travelling around the middle east and a stint working in Africa on an oil exploration crew, Barry joined Mobil Oil, Canada focusing in the areas of high tech computing and geophysics. He spent the last 8 years at Mobil in various management positions. At Mobil, Barry was also trained as a process reengineering and meetings facilitator.

In 1995, Barry and his wife Barbara moved to the Okanagan Valley in British Colombia as a conscious lifestyle change and together they started SageKey Software. SageKey has consistently grown over its 14 years and currently has over 3500 customers in more than 50 countries.

Barb Matfield - Vice President

Barb is vice president and co-founder of SageKey. "My main role is company visionary and growth mentor. I focus on in house processes, long term vision and growth of the company. I've taken on many roles as SageKey has grown, While I've always been the long term thinker for the company, over the years I've had my hands in most of our infrastructure components. Barry and I have always taken joint responsibility for hiring and looking after our people."

Barb was born in Indian Head, Saskatchewan. She started her career as a nurse in 1972 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and worked at that profession for the next seven years. In 1983, Barb traded in her scrubs and joined the oil and gas industry in Calgary where for the next 11 years she worked in the Geophysics dept at Canadian Hunter Oil and Gas Inc. She praises Canadian Hunter for being an exceptional place to work: inspiring their people to be entrepreneurs and practice progressive, people centric business practises.

In 1995 Barb and her husband Barry took a leap of faith, left the oil and gas industry and moved to the Okanagan Valley for a less hectic lifestyle. It is here that they started SageKey Software.
